He was a Technocrat, with a Masters degree in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering from Michigan State University and the University of Minnesota, USA. He worked with multinationals including Union Carbide before starting his own venture. He started the Nagarjuna Group with the mission of “serving society through industry”. His major contribution has been the setting up of the largest gas based fertilizer company, NFCL, in South India. Nagarjuna Fertilizers & Chemicals (NFCL), Nagarjuna Oil Refinery (NORL) and Nagarjuna Agrichem (NACL) are part of the Nagarjuna Group. Shri KVK Raju passed away in June 1993. Evolution In 1992, Vijayalakshmi Pesticides Ltd was acquired and thus with investments in Pesticide Formulations, the Group made their first foray into the business of crop protection. In 1994, Nagarjuna Agrichem Limited or Nagarjuna Agrichem was established for producing Technical grade pesticides such as Monocrotophos. Currently, Nagarjuna Agrichem produces a comprehensive range of pesticide Technicals and Formulations. All Nagarjuna Agrichem products conform to international quality standards and specifications. Nagarjuna Agrichem Limited is a professionally managed, ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004, OHSAS 18001:2007 certified company. The Board comprises of agribusiness professionals and eminent bankers.
