It is the acquisition of the Ideal Home Show that has been the most startling and impressive – it is widely recognised that Media 10 saved the Ideal Home Show in 2010 when it was an event on its knees and about to close forever. Not only was it saved, it was transformed, rejuvenated, became multi-award winning and the knock-on effect for the industry was startling. Now, the Ideal Home Show currently runs four shows a year, with the main event being complemented by Manchester, Scotland and the Christmas shows as well as hosting a range of licensed Ideal Home Show brand extensions for the consumer market including a weight loss program (Ideal Weight), the Ideal Home Show Shop as well as Ideal Home Show mortgages, home insurance, and a credit card.
Other events in Media 10’s portfolio include 100% Design, 100% Optical, Britain and Ireland’s Next Top Model Live, Clerkenwell Design Week, The London Design Trail, Grand Designs Awards, Icon Awards, Destination Star Trek, Coronation Festival at Buckingham Palace, UK Construction Week and The Cake & Bake Show.
Furthermore, the company has also seen international expansion with Grand Designs Live launching in Sydney, Melbourne and Johannesburg as well as its first venture into China with Design Shanghai. The Group also currently have partnerships with Channel 4, Fremantle Media, ITV, The Performing Rights Society and CBS.
This extraordinary growth has all come in the past five years, during a time when the economic downturn has decimated many competitors, be they in the events or retail sectors. In this time Media 10 has seen turnover, profits, products in the portfolio and staff numbers grow at a dramatic rate. With over 1 million live Visitors in attendance at a Media 10 event and over 5 million readers of their magazines, it is clear this is a company to watch out for.
Although Media 10 have become specialists in the events sector, the company’s creativity has also seen ideas turn into well established brands. A partnership with Mothercare helped launch Gurgle Magazine which this year sees its ABC take market leading position in the mother and baby sector.
In addition, Media 10 Ltd have owned and published a series of award winning magazines which include; Good Homes, Icon, Grand Designs, On Office, The Selfbuilder, The Clerkenwell Post and M the music magazine published for the MCPS-ORS Alliance.
