Our literacy mission

“Literacy is a bridge from misery to hope. It is a platform for democratisation and a vehicle for the promotion of cultural and national identity. For everyone, everywhere, literacy is, along with education in general, a basic human right. Literacy is the road to human progress and the means through which every man, woman and child can realize his or her full potential.” – Kofi Annan, Former Secretary-General of the United Nations

Illiteracy represents India’s biggest roadblock in its quest to emerge as a respected member in the global community of nations.

Some 37% of all the illiterate adults in the world are Indian. India’s literacy rate increased by 15% between 1991 and 2006, but concurrent population growth has resulted in the total number of illiterate people remaining around the same. India’s educational spending is around $685 per pupil per year in states like Kerala and around $100 in poorer states like Bihar.

Linc is a responsible national ally in helping eradicate illiteracy.

Through the cost-effective manufacturing of writing instruments and stationery products.

Through anytime product availability across the vast national landscape.

Through responsible pricing and category creation.

Through product quality reflected via enduring usage.

Through the allocation of one percent of our annual profits to fund various literacy programmes.

A commitment that is reflected in its corporate mantra of ‘Encouraging Literacy’.
