They can range, attack and even mage. So be prepared when you are aware of what is coming at you... they allow you enough time to kno what's coming. (they maximum hit around 25 without protection, so they're not very difficult) for melee they lower their weapon back and this gives you the chance to shield yourself from melee attacks, for range they hold their weapon with both hands and that's your chance to guard, in the case of mage, they pull their weapon , which is your chance to guard yourself.
  
  After you've destroyed the god, you collect the staff the god drops. You exit the castle and you'll see another split screen in which you have to defeat 100 more enemies before entering the god castle. This time, it's the second god disciple. Eliminate him, then pick up the staff and put both pieces.
