Overview

  • The funniest thing is that they have WOW TBC Gold tidied the place up a bit, they've removed some of the base game sludge. Personally, I don't mind this at all. I played it a lot. But I don't have time to raid with my buddies for a while.

I'm sure I spent longer teleporting around the map than I did fighting between 1-50. While the story may not be any less bad, but if all you're doing is clicking on the quest's location before teleporting to it and teleport, what's your point. In the past, there were definitely missions that required you to go between the map but could you even imagine the main storyline that takes players from strangle to the south shore of every quest for 50 levels? You have two buttons to hit on a huge gcd when you finally go into the fight.

Both games have flaws, I'm certain. FF14 is more narrative-driven, and therefore, the 1-50 grind can be a bit challenging to grasp (although it is possible to purchase boosters for your levels and other items in WoW, as well). It was an arduous task to get rid of the games that were base. The one thing that made me feel like I could get through it was the fact there were so many who said it would get better. WoW didn't need to do that and could really cut down on their vanilla gameplay since the groundwork for the story was already in place in the Warcraft series, and missing vanilla content doesn't amount to much in the future.

It was more than just a handful of buttons with long GCDs. Additionally, FF14 needed to change its basic gameplay in the same way as WoW. There's always something to do at each level. My white mage has about 5-6 bars fully equipped with to play 90% of the game on. There aren't levels squashes the way WoW has repeatedly done in the past, so the player is stuck with the same skill for a short time while leveling and it's minorly inconvenient. PVP is my sole major complaint. That mess is beyond my comprehension.

Everyone needs to recognize the fact that they're different games with different goals well. I'd rather play FF14 over FF13 because of the better community along with the story, and its ability to be enjoyable once you've started exploring the expansions. JRPGs have always been a top choice for me, and this game really hits the mark in a way that I am regretting not getting into it sooner. WoW has grown gracefully from basic until the last couple of years. It's very easy to get into and play and will always trigger all the nostalgia buttons for me. However, the story isn't always funny, and at times I'm just in need of more than 10+ years old graphics. It also has the obvious, unfun time-gating.

At the very least, there's teleporting, instead of long flight paths lasting 10+ minutes. I'll tell you that "Pray come to the cheap Burning Crusade Classic Gold Waking Sands," can give me slight gaming trauma from a couple of years ago, at least I think so.
